YOUR LATEST ISSUE ABOUT MRCP PACES IS HERE! Inspect this lady's hand and proceed.
Discussion: Some of you might not seen this condition during your years of medical posting. However, if you are working in any of the skin clinics in Malaysia, this condition is rather common. Although this is not a popular MRCP PACES question, my friend actually got this case two years ago when he sat for MRCP PACES in Kuala Lumpur. OK, this lady actually has scabies over her hand. The lesion is always described as pimple-like irritations, burrows or rash of the skin. Classically, you can find this lession over the webbing between the fingers; the skin folds on the wrist, elbow, or knee; the penis, the breast, or shoulder blades. You will be suprised that it is a type of sexually transmmitted disease (STD). Scabies is an infestation of the skin with the microscopic mite Sarcoptes scabei. Below is a photo of the mite involved.
Common questions examiners would ask you 1) How do you diagnose this condition? 2) How do you manage this condition? 3) Can your pet spread scabies to you? Diagnosis: This lady has scabies.
